Legal agreement and code of conduct

Terms of Use

Read these Terms of Use before using Assistant. By verifying your access code and ticking the acceptance box in the app, you agree to be bound by them. The same text is shown inside the app under /terms.

Version 1.0 • Last updated: August 10, 2026 • Applies to all registered users

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using any services provided by Assistant ("Platform", "we", "us", or "our"), you agree to comply with and be legally bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not accept them and may not access or use the application.

2. Local Account and App Lock

Assistant runs on your own computer with a single local account. You may protect it with an app lock PIN under Settings → General; you are responsible for keeping that PIN confidential and for who can reach this computer or its network address.

  • Without an app lock PIN, anyone who can open the app or reach it over the network has full access.
  • You may not share your PIN or session with unauthorized third parties.
  • Change the PIN if you suspect any unauthorized access.

3. AI Models and Data Privacy

Assistant integrates local llama-server engines for private, local AI inference. When selecting local providers like llama-server, prompt processing runs directly on your local infrastructure. Conversations, memory facts and settings are stored in a SQLite database on the machine that runs the service.

4. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use Assistant to engage in any prohibited activities, including but not limited to:

  • Generating malicious code, exploits, or malware designed to disrupt computer systems.
  • Promoting illegal activities, harassment, hate speech, or severe harm to individuals or groups.
  • Attempting to bypass access controls, authentication PINs, or backend security guards.
  • Automated scraping or bulk abuse that degrades service availability for other users.

5. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

AI-generated content and responses provided by Assistant are generated by statistical language models and should be evaluated independently.

AS-IS BASIS: THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT OUTPUTS ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY SPECIFIC LEGAL, FINANCIAL, OR MEDICAL DECISIONS.

6. Contact and Support

If you have any questions, concerns, or inquiries regarding these Terms of Use or data practices, open an issue on the project repository or contact the administrator of your Assistant install.
